Who are we?
Charlotte Greene are a young and innovative force
within the self-publishing book market. It is way
passed time for the dinosaurs of a bygone publishing
age to engage with the current, the future of the
publishing industry. They appear to be stuck in
the past - hence Charlotte Greene.
Charlotte Greene was formed by John Morris, in association with trusted freelancers he had employed to help him publish his books. It had taken him several years to find the right people with the right skills. Many advertise, but their
product is lacking, their timekeeping erratic, or their work just not good enough.
To help other self-publishing authors, this group decided to offer themselves as part of a package of trusted freelancers, people who would deliver what they said, on time. The demise of Elance, and its sale to Upwork prompted this
to become a reality.
In essence, Charlotte Greene is a small version
of Elance, dedicated solely to helping self-publishing
authors bring their work to the marketplace.
Taking The Next Step
John had planned to write ten books, and given
the eBook version, that meant he needed to buy twenty
ISBN's. In the UK, those can only be legitimately
purchased from Nielsen. He bought one hundred and
became a Publisher under the Imprint Charlotte Greene.
"Charlotte in memory of my Irish Grandmother,"
he relates.
By becoming a publisher, he was then able to register
with the likes of Gardners Books—they who supply
Waterstones, and the majority of the UK Trade wholesalers
and retailers in UK. Also, because of this, any
bookshop could order a copy of his books via Gardners
or Nielsen. That was a very big step forward.
As of today, other authors and freelancers are
joining Charlotte Greene, and more have expressed
interest.
Is it for me?
There is no telling, until you try. Our charges, (you make your deal with the freelancer) are fair. We employ Escrow services via a third party provider, so both author and freelancer have no worries about payment.
You may prefer other options, such as people who
will offer to promote your book for several thousand
dollars, or rely on self-help books; our only comment,
"Most, but not all of these people are in it
for the money they can make out of you, the gullible."
With Charlotte Greene, you retain autonomy of your
book, but we assist you get it to market.
The Benefits?
Charlotte Greene open doors closed to most self-publishing
authors: listings with Waterstones, Blackwells,
and Apple iBookstore to name but three. We can supply
ISBN's to contracted authors, and enter your books
into our Trade Catalogue. This is published biennially,
and is only for Trade Distributors and Wholesalers,
but on both sides of the Atlantic, and the rest
of the English speaking world.
